Assisted Living

What is Assisted Living?
Assisted Living is for people who need assistance with activities of daily living, but wish to live independently as long as possible. Assisted living is designed for someone who is no longer comfortable living alone, but does not need the constant care of a nursing home. Assistance is tailored to your individual needs, with every resident having their own individual service plan.

People decide to live in an assisted living facility when they no longer feel safe living alone, want someone to be available 24 hours a day, need assistance with bathing, need socialization, or are not receiving the proper nutrition. As your needs become greater, your individual care plan is updated to include additional services.

Services offered:

  • 2 or 3 meals a day
  • Weekly housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Health monitoring
  • Medication management
  • Lifeline
  • Social/wellness programs
  • 24 hour staffing
  • Transportation

What options do I have?
We have two assisted living options:

  • Wardwell Gardens, a state-subsidized apartment complex with 30 one- and two-bedroom units;
  • Wardwell Home, a Victorian-style building with sixteen one- and two- bedroom residencies with private baths. These units are available for private pay clients

Do I qualify for subsidized services?
For subsidized services (offered in the Wardwell Gardens) a person has to qualify both financially and functionally. To qualify functionally, the person must need assistance with one or more of the following tasks:

  • Dressing
  • Hygiene
  • Meal preparation
  • Medication management
  • Shopping
  • Transportation
  • Housekeeping
  • Accompanying to Physician's visits
  • Managing personal funds

For information on financial qualifications for subsidized housing, see our Finance page.
